[David's eyes go wide and he tries to shuffle back when the snake strikes. His heart beating fast, he lets out a relieved breath when the danger passes - and there are the keys. He makes a grab for them.]
[David will end up backing up into Belial’s chest when he moves, but eventually the fallen angel gives him enough relief and stands up to turn and start walking out of the sitting room. Lucy only lingers at the detective’s side a moment longer before she too slithers off at her master’s heels.]

[It’s a nonchalant, flippant response, without any further teasing or suggestion. Should David decide to stand himself up to head back out into the entry hall, he’ll find Belial already heading up the stairs to his left as if nothing happened at all.]
[There's a frozen moment where David waits, listening and expecting a trick. He really doesn't trust Belial to simply leave it at that. But then he finally gets up and heads out, glancing around as he notices Belial moving away. He remains wary and cautious, keeping alert as he heads for the door. If it opens easily, he'll be out without another word.]
[As Belial turns and disappears up the stairs, Lucy lags behind and pauses to rest on the landing where she has a vantage point to watch David head out the door. It does, in fact, open with ease, and without further tricks or complications.]
